Almost daily, cosmologists and astronomers announce new and unexpected discoveries that capture the keen interest of the public. Using very expensive apparatus, mostly funded from the public purse, ever more fantastic purported confirmations of the theory of relativity and the gaseous theory of stars are reported, far more often than not with fanfare and applause by the media stoking the flames of frenzy.

These new findings are so incredulous as to elicit vehement claims of ‘new physics’ since current theories are baffled by them. The befuddled experts scramble to adjust their theories in order to accommodate and subsume these surprises without ever stopping to consider that their fundamental theories are themselves actually wrong. Manipulating parameters, engaging the ever present computer modelling, augmented with fanciful flights of unbridled wild imagination, despite the actual facts before their eyes, ever more phantasmagorical objects and processes are invented by the experts and foisted upon the Universe against its will.
